Putrajaya Merdeka Night Swim     22nd Sept 2018 (Saturday)

400m Loop

Registration periodOpen: Aug 20, 2018  Closed: Sep 15, 2018  or upon reaching the limit(whichever comes first).


Event Date:22nd Sept, Saturday 


Venue:  Kelab Tasik Putrajaya


Slot limit:  100 swimmers only

Swim course:  400M triangle loop

Swimming objectives:

1. Experience swimming in the dark under controlled enviroment

2. Instill Teamwork & leadership spirit and skill through synchronized and swimming a team in OW dark environment

3. remove fear and add confidence when facing almost similar situation.

4. train or prepare swimmer for a marathon swim which require to swim in the dark.


Participant’s Entitlement:  T-shirt is optional to purchase; swimmers to wear their own cap; drinks provided. We hope that swimmers could gain invaluable experience from this special event as mentioned in the objectives.


swimmer required devices:

1. Drybag swimming float (purchase or rental)  -  purchase rm80 (LED included) and rental is rm30 (LED included)

2. LED light (provided if the float is purchased or rented). swimmer can buy separately rm7 if using existing buoy

 3. glow stick (provided)

Note: LED could last more than 48 hours.


Minimum Age requirement (on the day of the event) is 14 years old

Race Schedule (P.M)

8:00 - registration open

8:45 - safety briefing

9:00 - synchronized swimming a team of  5 (swim freestyle with glow stick at each wrist)

9:15 - team swim; same group as the above - two loops.

9:45 - solo swim

10:30 - swim end 


Swim format

1. synchronized swimming

A team of 5 will be selected by organizer randomly on the spot. Each team will be given time to practice. By swimming together perpendicular to the shore, the team must time their stroke (freestyle) in sync. Each swimmer will be given glow sticks worn at each wrist. The team will be swimming in sync in about 20m distance and the judges will score based on syncronization.


2. Team swim 

The same team above will swim together for 2 loops of 400m after the syncronization event finished. The must stop at the designated checkpoint all together and touch the checkpoint device (first loop) before continuing the swim and finish the 2nd loop.


3. solo swim


once the team swim completed; a solo session begins. A swimmer can swim as many as he/she can in 45 minutes time. He/she must stop at the mentioned checkpoint and touch the checkpoint device in every loop.


Qualification: a minimum of 3 time OWS experiences from the past. Any triathlon,Ironman, swimathon events, or monthly Swimon workshop/trainings can be counted.  Contact race director for further query or justification. 


Safety: The course is patrolled by safety crafts and life guards with ratio 1:10.

Awards (tentative): 

  • The most synchronized team (swimming freestyle) ; team of 4 - randomly picked
  • The most gained loops during the specified time (Top Male and Female)

It is mandatory for swimmer to wear drybag type of float.  LED light will be placed inside. The glowing light from the buoy will help safety team to monitor a swimmer.  The safety could be purchased or rented at the registration site.


Glow stick will be provided to swimmers. It will be used by swimmers to get attention from safety team by waving to them with the glow sticks.  The glow stick will be used to captured synchronization of swimmers during synchronized swimming session.
